What happens when My-MOB is activated?
Once activated (manually or automatically), the tracker transmits the GPS position instantly to ships, professional boats and coastal emergency stations within radio range (from 5 to 10 miles depending on sea conditions) as well as, OBVIOUSLY, to the boat if equipped with an AIS system.
At the same time it transmits an alarm and GPS position via radio via DSC system 8 times a minute: therefore it is also received by boats in the area not equipped with AIS.
The tracker is therefore immediately identified and localized and, not only the MOB boat but any other boat in the reception area can change its route and promptly intervene for rescue.
Both AIS and DSC systems are integrated in the SIMY My-MOB tracker which can be used in automatic or manual mode:
- In automatic mode, the tracker will activate immediately upon inflation of the lifejacket.
- In manual mode, the tracker must be activated by the user.

MY-MOB exclusive technical evolutions:
SPRING ANTENNA: the range of AIS and DSC systems also depends on the height of the antenna. The MOB is at sea level and therefore an effective antenna must somehow rise as high as possible. MY-MOB is equipped with a special wheel antenna which, when activated, snaps and rises several centimeters
TEAR-ON ACTIVATION: the classic automatic activation of beacons is generally given by two negative and positive poles which come into contact in water. However, this type of system is susceptible to false alarms in the typical humid conditions of the sea. MY-MOB is instead equipped with an exclusive mechanical tear-off activation system, which is activated only thanks to the opening of the self-inflating life jacket: no false alarms.
What are AIS and DSC technologies:
AIS is an international standard that allows ships and boats for professional use to exchange their course, position and speed data via VHF radio waves, in order to avoid collisions and to follow traffic at sea.
My-MOB integrates this technology. Once the tracker is activated, every vessel within radio range will receive the distress signal and the precise GPS position of the tracker on its AIS receiver.
DSC or Digital Selective Calling allows GPS coordinates to be transmitted via VHF and in digital form. In the event of an emergency, these data can be automatically transmitted in "distress function" and then received on all VHF radio equipment used in pleasure craft and professional units,
